Tekamah residents return after anhydrous ammonia pipeline rupture

The evacuation of 23 homes following a fatal anhydrous ammonia pipeline rupture is nearly over.

According to a news release, the evacuation was lifted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday for all but one residence north of Tekamah. Four homes remained evacuated as of Friday.

The pipeline burst Monday night and killed 59-year-old Phillip Hennig when he drove into the deadly gas.

Magellan Midstream Partners, the Oklahoma-based pipeline owner, "will conduct air quality testing at each residence," the release said.
