Cass County GOP calls for State Sen. Bill Kintner to resign in wake of his cybersex scandal

LINCOLN — A group of Republicans from State Sen. Bill Kintner’s district is calling for the senator to resign immediately or face “strong action” as a consequence for his cybersex scandal.

The Cass County Republican Party on Tuesday night unanimously passed a resolution asking for Kintner’s immediate resignation. Should he ignore that request, the party is asking the Legislature to seek tougher penalties.

Cass County Republican Party Chairman Craig Buescher said the group wanted to take a stand before the coming legislative session so their silence didn’t imply that the party approved of Kintner’s actions.

“We wanted to make sure we are on the record stating the concerns of many people in the county about how upset we were about what he did,” he said.
