Bold Nebraska still opposed to Keystone XL

The Bold Nebraska organization and its members have never been a fan of the Keystone XL pipeline — a fact that certainly hasn’t changed even with President Donald Trump’s recent decision to revive the TransCanada project.

Jane Kleeb, the president of Bold Nebraska, said the organization is not opposed to pipelines that bring energy to farms, homes and industries, but the Keystone XL pipeline doesn’t fit that bill.

“Since it’s mostly an export pipeline for international market, we (do not) think farmers should have to give their land and risk our water so a foreign corporation can make huge amounts of money,” Kleeb said.

Bold Nebraska’s opposition to Keystone XL — or at the very least, to Keystone XL as it currently is projected to be located — is based on many factors. However, one major factor is the possibility that Trans-Canada will use eminent domain to acquire land for the project.
