Former Lincoln Family Wellness employee pleads not guilty to wire fraud

An Eagle woman has been indicted in federal court on allegations she embezzled more than $130,000 from Lincoln Family Wellness, where she worked as office manager.

Valerie M. Stevens, 36, pleaded not guilty to wire fraud Monday in U.S. District Court in Lincoln. A trial has been set for January.

According to an indictment filed last week, Stevens was alleged to have used business credit cards to obtain money and property for herself and others under false pretenses between Jan. 11, 2011, and Oct. 17, 2016.

The charges included gym membership fees, hospital bills, clothing stores and dental bills, Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven Russell said in the indictment.
