More Nebraskans can Apply for SNAP with New Eligibility Criteria
Lincoln, NE In May, the Unicameral passed Legislative Bill (LB) 108 to address the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) cliff effect. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services began processing applications for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) with the new eligibility criteria for the gross income limit this past week with benefits to be disbursed after July 26, 2021.
Nebraska Appleseed Economic Justice Program Manager Eric Savaiano issued the following statement:

With the increased eligibility limits, we encourage Nebraskans to apply or reapply for SNAP. Even as COVID-19 case numbers have gone down, food insecurity and economic hardship remain high. SNAP is available to everyone who qualifies!
