SPOTLIGHT RACE: Elaine Marzola for NV-HD21
Elaine Marzola was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, immigrating with her parents to Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1984. Elaine graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a Bachelors Degree in Womens Studies. During her undergraduate years, she first volunteered for and then was employed by SafeNest domestic violence shelter. Next, she attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School, earning her Juris Doctor in 2010. In the fall of 2011, she became a member of the Nevada State Bar. Elaine is proud to tell you that she was a single mom of a son who made the higher education journey with her.
After graduating from law school, Elaine served as a judicial law clerk. Working for a judge, Elaine was able to learn first-hand how the justice system works and to understand the importance of a strong advocate representing clients in order to get them the justice they deserve. Among the many aspects of Las Vegas that influenced Elaines progress, which continues to this day, is her membership and active participation in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, the Nevada Bar Association, and the Nevada Justice Association.
First elected in 2020, Assemblywoman Marzola is honored to be part of the only female majority legislature in our nation's history. Elaine is a mother, sister, and daughter dedicated to building a better Nevada for our families. She is proud to have two brothers who are United States Marines and a son who graduated from the University of Reno, Nevada School of Medicine. During her time in office, Elaine has been a dedicated public servant, sponsoring legislation to increase health care access, providing paid leave for workers, and getting teachers much-needed pay raises.
