Victoria Seaman (R) concedes Las Vegas mayoral race to Shelly Berkley (D)

In a Facebook post and email from her campaign, Seaman said “While the outcome of the Mayor’s race is not what we had hoped, I wholeheartedly congratulate Shelly Berkley on her election as the next mayor of Las Vegas. I am confident that she will lead our city with dedication, and I stand ready to support and work alongside her as councilwoman of Ward 2 in any way I can to further the interests of all our residents.”

Berkley, who served seven terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, received 53% of the vote compared to 47% for Seaman, a former Nevada Assemblywoman currently serving on the Las Vegas City Council.

“Campaigning across our great city has been an experience I will cherish forever,” Seaman said.

The mayor’s seat has been held for the past 24 years by Oscar and Carolyn Goodman, who served three terms each.
