Unions picketing Circus Circus Reno over pay, allege 'aggressive union-busting'

Dozens of Circus Circus Reno workers are picketing in downtown Reno on Thursday afternoon as members of the Culinary Union protest a contract standoff with the hotel-casino’s parent company Eldorado Resorts.

The contract between the union and Eldorado expired on Nov. 30 last year. Both sides also have been in contract negotiations for seven months over several issues, including worker pay, healthcare and retirement benefits.

Wages have especially been a sticking point in the negotiations. The Culinary Union rejected a 1.75% wage increase proposed by Eldorado.

“Eldorado made 9.8% more profit last year and their CEO could make $8.8 million this year along,” said Bethany Khan, a spokeswoman for the Culinary Union.

I have stayed in the one in LV and they were a hard working group of Employees. Is that one included?

There was another Hotel being picketed when I was there. I refused to cross the line while the others did. I stayed and talked to those walking the line.

It is important we support those who work hard and need a living wage.
