Two more former students join $70M lawsuit over 'Animal House' conduct of Dartmouth professors
HANOVER Two more former Dartmouth College students joined a federal lawsuit that seven other women had brought seeking $70 million in damages for allowing a 21st Century Animal House culture of drinking, rape and sexual harassment to persist over a 16-year period.
The filing added salacious allegations against three former professors of the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, Todd Heatherton, William Kelley and Paul Whalen, all of whom resigned or retired after an administrative report recommended they be terminated.
One of the new plaintiffs, Jane Doe 2, said she attended the college from 2008-12, and Whalen got her drunk and raped her in a November 2012 incident, according to the amended lawsuit.
At one point, Whalen told her: Dont worry, were not going to have sex, the lawsuit says.
Jane Doe 2 replied, Of course not I cant even walk. Whalen nonetheless forced himself on Jane Doe 2 and engaged in non-consensual intercourse with her. In the following months after sexually assaulting Jane Doe 2, Whalen repeatedly demanded to know if she had told anyone and warned her that he would lose everything if she told anyone.
