Tax group linked to firefighter harassment allegation
NORTH HAMPTON Officials are questioning whether a taxpayer group is linked to an incident under investigation by police in which someone allegedly harassed an on-duty firefighter by yelling North Hampton strong.
Members of the group, called We Are 03862 Strong, are denying any association with the alleged harassment, which Town Administrator Paul Apple said involved a resident allegedly following and photographing the firefighter while he was in a local grocery store. The act could result in a misdemeanor charge of harassment, according to North Hampton Police Deputy Chief Steven Janvrin.
Apple said the firefighter went to the grocery to get something to eat when a man yelled North Hampton Strong at him, then allegedly followed him into the next aisle and attempted to take his photo. The firefighter, Apple said, ignored him.
Janvrin said he spoke with the firefighter who was allegedly harassed, leading to the investigation. He declined to say if a suspect had been identified.
