Democratic Party stalwart Leo Lessard dies at 67

MILTON — A Strafford County Commissioner who dedicated his life to public service will be remembered for championing progressive values.

Leo Lessard of Milton was 67 years old when he passed away at his home Wednesday morning after a period of failing health.

According to the county’s website, Lessard was born and raised in Strafford County. He earned an associate degree in business from the University of New Hampshire and a bachelor’s degree from Granite State College.

In 1974, as a resident of Dover, Lessard was elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives. For two terms, Lessard served as the chairman for the Strafford County Delegation, according to the county’s website.
