Is Trump backer Adelson getting involved in N.J. governor's race?
Is leading Republican campaign donor Sheldon Adelson, a big backer of President Donald Trump, getting involved in the New Jersey governor's race?
Celebrity Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, whose World Values Network is partially funded by Adelson, recently criticized Democratic gubernatorial frontrunner Phil Murphy.
Republicans, including Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, have accused Murphy of comparing Trump to Adolf Hitler in comments in November, even though the former U.S. ambassador to Germany never specifically mentioned Hitler, the Nazis or Trump by name.
"It is hard to imagine that I need to say this, but any statement that associates a democratically elected president, however objectionable he may be to his opponents, to a genocidal maniac is beyond the pale," Boteach said in a statement issued by the Republican Governors Association, which received $1 million from Adelson last year.
