(85 posts)Anyone can get an absentee ballot mailed to his/her house. Go to this site, download the absentee ballot application form for your county, mail it (or bring it by hand) to the clerk's address listed in the application. In about a week or two you will get the ballot and you can fill it out according to the instructions (be careful to make sure you fill everything out correctly and sign the outside affidavit that's part of the envelope - don't rip it off).

(2,308 posts)Absentee is not the same as early voting. Many states do have early voting. NJ does not.

(2,104 posts)didn't think so.
For the most part certain states/districts are a given what the outcome will be and I'd just rather walk to my polling place (4blocks or so) than just send in an absentee ballot that might not even get looked at unless there was a tie/close election.
I'd obviously rather be able to vote early (in person) but guess we aren't evolved enough to do that or have all mail in ballots to avoid the crappy voting machines w/o a paper trail and provide tangible physical ballots for all voters like I've read that other states have.

Fill out ballot and hand right back in. I am sure most places have this type of situation set up. They have to.
