Anti-Smoking Magician Among Your HHRS News "Jersey-est" of 2017

Your HHRS News.com, the Health/Medical/Fitness/Nutrition News Blog of New Jersey, closes out its third year with its annual "Jersey-Est" year in review for 2017.

According to editor Adrienne Collier, the "Jersey-Est" should be thought of an "awards show with a New Jersey attitude. It cites the people and trends that are doing the most -- AND the least -- to help make New Jersey a healthier and better educated place!"

The Man of the Year is Mike "Micky Magic" Gomez of Union City, who mixes his roles as an Affordable Care Act certified smoking cessation counselor and a magician entertaining children at local schools. Lately, he has taken to making cigarettes disappear, and encouraging his young audiences to take a pledge not to smoke.

The Woman Of The Year is Anne Bertino-Lapinsky, a nurse from Vorhees. When she experienced shoulder pain and arm numbness, she went to the hospital immediately, where tests revealed a ninety percent artery blockage. Since her complete recovery, she's been educating women about how their heart attack symptoms can be both varied and vague, and should never be ignored.
