Chris Christie snubbed at New Jersey airport, must wait in line like everyone else
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie learned the hard way that traveling as a private citizen is no day at the beach.
The Associated Press reports Christie was snubbed Thursday at the Newark Airport and told he cannot use the VIP entrance he used for the past eight years in his home state. The two-term Republican, who left office on Tuesday, was told he can't bypass TSA security and must wait in line like everybody else.
According to NBC, the special entrance at New Jersey's largest airport is normally reserved for VIP guests, dignitaries and elected officials. A source said a Port Authority officer refused to let Christie use it, despite his pleas that he had done so earlier this month -- before new NJ Gov. Phil Murphy was sworn in.
The New York Daily News reports Christie and a state trooper assigned to him for protection complied with the officer's directions and went to the Transportation Security Administration screening lines at Terminal B.
