Congressman MacArthur holds slim lead over Democrat challenger Andy Kim

U.S. Rep. Tom MacArthur has a slim lead over Democrat challenger Andy Kim with three weeks left before the general election, according to a new poll by Stockton University.

MacArthur, R-3rd, has seen his popularity fall within the district because of concerns surrounding President Donald Trump and the state of the health care system in America, according to the poll.

The congressman leads 47 percent to 45 percent of voters in the district, with 8 percent still undecided.

The 3rd District covers parts of two counties, one of which is heavily Democratic while the other is heavily Republican. Kim leads by 15 percentage points in Burlington County, where Democrats outnumber Republicans 1.5 to 1, and MacArthur leads by 20 points in Ocean County, where Republicans outnumber Democrats 1.6 to 1 countywide, according to the poll.
