Your HHRS News, online home of New Jersey health, medical, fitness, and nutrition news and events, kicks off its seventh year by paying tribute to its
"Jersey-est" stories of 2019.
"Our
Man of the Year is
Kevin 'Silent Bob' Smith of
Dogma and
Clerks fame," explains editor Adrienne Collier. "He was almost as famous for his girth for as his comedic work. But when he got hit with a 'widowmaker' heart attack, he joined his daughter in going vegan, joined
Weight Watchers as an advocate, and lost fifty pounds!"
But you don't have to be an established celebrity to qualify for a "Jersey-est" honor. The
Woman of the Year for 2019 is
Victoria Caetano, a high school senior in Rumson who runs track and cross-country, works part-time, and plans to become a neurosurgeon -- all while managing a spina bifida tumor that periodically requires...well, neurosurgery.
Honorable mention goes to the father of the
Jonas Brothers, who took on the challenge of becoming an ambassador for the
Colorectal Cancer Alliance and helping spearhead the years #StrongArmSelfie fundraiser when he was diganosed (while his kids pitched in with the release of their first song in six years).
And what's a New Jersey web site without a little rock-and-roll attitude?
Phil Barbetta of the band
Corevalay and
John "Turbo" Shateksy of
Rock Against Dystrophy and
Bullspike Radio earned
Video of the Year honors by teaming up to promote
#RockYourDisability: they're both wheelchair users. And the debut of the band
Aurin includes a song and video about the effects of the suicide of the brother of their guitarist. You'll also find out about everything from wind farms to vasectomies to an 8,000-mile cancer consultation at
https://yourhhrsnews.com/review-2019.
"I am as grateful as I am excited to be starting the site's seventh year," says Ms. Collier. "But it's called
YOUR HHRS News for a reason: it depends on the news, information, and promotions that I receive from you. Don't hesitate to go to
https://yourhhrsnews.com/contact/ if I might be of help!"
