I plan to call the county election board tomorrow (if anyone answers)

Is it possible to buy our own collection boxes to place in town. I would like to place one in front of the police station.

What do they cost? I can take up a private collection.

Presently, the nearest box is 5 miles away. Inconvenient for non-drivers.

I'm in Essex, and the County Clerk said that they're working hard to make our elections safe and easy.
I don't know yet specifically what the plans will be - I can ask my town clerk about that.

I posted this on a Maplewood web site and got a response.

Looks like the county is hoping to add a box in each town.

There will also be at least one live poling station in Maplewood.

employed by the BoE; and there are strict controls on what is the proper storage of the ballots.

And chain of custody of the ballot. Private citizens collecting ballots is just asking for a lawsuit.

to make it more convenient.

On the positive side, doubt there are many people who can't get someone to drive them to a ballot collection box 5 miles away. I'm sure there are some, but not many. Maybe volunteers can offer to help people.

Depending where what state you live in, those few folks can likely mail in a ballot, recognizing there might be a small risk it doesn't arrive.

They should have people who are willing to drive people to ballot collection boxes.
I was going to say that they should send out flyers or post cards ...but

Hopefully there will be some way to get the word/vote out
