New Jersey
Related: About this forumSo how come NJ voters are going for both Booker and Christie this year?
RealClearPolitics' average of this month's polls shows a 24-point edge for current Gov. Chris Christie. This after Cory Booker won the special election for Frank Lautenberg's former senate seat by 11 points. How could that be? A lot of people in NJ are low-info independents voting strictly on name recognition? Left-leaning moderates who don't mind Christie being a "RINO"? Buono being a weak candidate? What is going on?![](/du4img/smicon-reply-new.gif)

(5,946 posts)Sorry, as one who got no help, I tend to be bitter. He just kept saying he did well, but I think the majority are not happy, he says he balanced the budget, but he never did, he says he increased school funding, but that would only be to private schools, not public. He says the teachers support him,. but they hate him.
But the media loves him and goes with what he says, even though it is very not true.
you can't pay me to vote for Christie, he has been a financial disaster for this state, but the media loves him and people believe what they hear -not checking if it is true or not.

(11,175 posts)Both Christie and Booker are highly skilled at media manipulation. It's not just that they're well known. Beyond mere name recognition, many of the low-information voters (Democrats and Republicans as well as independents) have a favorable image of both men, an image not justified by their records in office.
