Vote by mail update: Return rate breaks 50%

More than half of New Jerseyans who have requested an absentee ballot have now voted, according to an analysis by Associated Press elections researcher Ryan Dubicki.

About 548,000 New Jerseyans have voted as of Thursday, according to the analysis. 1.083 million have requested absentee ballots.

Slightly more than 61% of returned ballots belong to registered Democrats. Republicans account for 20.5% of submitted ballots, and unaffiliated voters have sent in 17.9% of ballots.

In total, Democrats have submitted 335,708 ballots, Republicans have sent in 112,729, and unaffiliated voters have filled out 97,916.

Early ballots from Democrats, who are more likely to vote early and have more registered voters in the state, generally outnumber Republican mail-in votes.

this article at the NJ Spotlight says that 61% of Dems in NJ have voted early and only 21% of repubs have.

Lotsa' good charts and graphs at this link, NJ Spotlight.

I'll probably go on election day. I used to love to go then because they had bake sales and there was a real community atmosphere. For whatever reason they discontinued that, but it's still nice to see the seniors from the adjoining senior high rise doing the sign in and other electoral work.
