Top Democrat: No end in sight for N.J. road funding crisis

TRENTON — Senate President Stephen Sweeney said there's no immediate end in sight to the transportation funding impasse that has frozen road projects across the state, even though Democratic leaders are in talks with Gov. Chris Christie.

"Do I think it could go on until November? Yeah," Sweeney (D-Gloucester) said, repeating a prediction he made earlier this month.

Sweeney said he had met with Christie for more than an hour this week to discuss, among other things, ending to the stalemate.

"We had a very healthy meeting," Sweeney said.
