Christie says GWB scandal helped scuttle his chances to be Trump's running mate
Governor Christie said he is sure that the George Washington Bridge scandal factored into Donald Trumps decision to pass him over as his running mate, but not a thing gives him fear about next weeks trial of former aides charged in the traffic scheme.
In a wide-ranging interview on MSNBCs 11th Hour program Wednesday night, Christie also weighed in on how Trump has handled his medical records and tax returns, offered advice on how the Republican nominee for president should handle his businesses if elected and sought to explain his admiration of Russian president Vladimir Putin. For nearly 20 minutes, Christie sat across the table from the shows host, Brian Williams, fielding a range of questions on the 2016 race.
But with the trial of two former aides scheduled to begin with opening statements Monday, Christie offered the most insight on the record into how the scandal has affected him politically. Williams asked him how much the trouble with the Bridgegate was a factor in him not getting chosen as Trumps vice president.
Im sure it was a factor, Christie said, and told Williams that hed have to ask Trump just how much.
