Woman who police say was raped at Ramapo College in 2014 files lawsuit
A young woman from Passaic County who police say was repeatedly raped at a fraternity party at Ramapo College two years ago has filed suit against her alleged attackers, the fraternity, the school and several individuals.
The suit, filed in federal court in Newark on Friday, contends that officials at the college in Mahwah were indifferent while the fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha International, hosted parties featuring underage drinking on campus.
According to the suit, the victim, who was 19 at the time of the sexual assaults in November 2014, was completely inebriated and passed out when she was allegedly raped while attending a party hosted by fraternity members at The Village, student housing. She was then carried back to a freshman dormitory and assaulted again, the suit says.
The suit contends that pledges to the fraternity were assigned to get girls drunk and that the assailants played the childs game rock, paper, scissors in deciding who got to rape the victim.
