Federal government suing Parsippany man over Medicare fraud

A Parsippany resident and his diagnostic testing company are being sued by the government for knowingly submitting false claims to Medicare for thousands of diagnostic testing services that were not done, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced Tuesday.

Vijay Patel, 59, of Parsippany, owner and operator of Mobile Diagnostic Testing of Parsippany, pleaded guilty Dec.15, 2014, to health care fraud related to this conduct.

The civil complaint filed Tuesday alleges Vijay Patel violated the False Claims Act. According to the complaint:

Patel had an associate who was a cardiologist and also a participant in the Medicare program.

The millions, and millions being stolen, in similar set-ups as the one above, need to be stopped. Needs to have an increased success rate.
