'Bait and switch' ? Century Link phone company New Mexico

I recently moved to a different part of Albuquerque into a 'senior citizen' high-rise with about 150 apartments.
I have had excellent cell phone service for years at my previous address but it's almost impossible to connect to a cell tower from my new address.

My phone is fine; had it checked out. Other residents and staff also have trouble connecting and advised me to get a 'landline' phone.
I looked online for inexpensive (cheap) and found on Century Link's webpage 'Basic Landline Service' unlimited local calls $23.99
which seemed to be what I needed.

I called Century Link for more info and was told the cheapest is $80 and she knew nothing about the $23.99 offer on their webpage.

I was able to add a line to my internet for $10 a month, unlimited national calling (and to about 20 countries).

The landline would be available with their Internet/TV Service, I’m not sure how it would bundle with Cell service.

Century Link or my internet provider?

The $80 (or $29 ?) Century Link landline would be plugged into the old fashioned wall phone socket.

My $10 service plugs into my internet modem and is a landline (not cell)

I was a captive customer of theirs for 25+ years. They lied to me constantly, about service, reliability, network performance, billing issues, distance to local office... Pretty much everything that we could ever touch on in a conversation. I was so glad to be rid of them finally and I will never go back.
