[IMPORTANT - NY] You must go in person today to your county's Board of Elections to register for voting in this primary - it's too late for mail/electronic registrations
I just called the Westchester Board of Elections in New York and was told that the electronic/mail registrations would not be processed in time for tomorrow's deadline. I'm going in person now and wanted to make sure all procrastinators in NY have this information.
You need 1 form of ID to fill out the registration form. It's a fairly easy form. Most places close at 5 PM so make sure you're registered!
Edit: The law may state that anything post marked on the 25th and received on the 30th will be processed. I was likely given the best advice to ensure my registration would be processed. We've learned the rules of this election are not set and so we must be constantly proactive. The more we hedge our bets and the less we cry victim after, the better. History is written by winners: Only when we win will our experiences be known. Only then will we have the stage to improve voting rights and regulations.

(3,063 posts)Oct 9 2015 was the last day for switching party affiliation in time to vote in the Primary Elections in New York in April 2016. This deadline only applied to existing voters who wanted to change party in time to vote in that partys primary (eg independents switching to Democrat to vote for Bernie in the Democratic primary!). It DOES NOT apply to new voters.
