Judge: Accused Irondequoit cop too dangerous to release
Irondequoit cop William Rosica has previously harassed and cyberstalked another girlfriend, tormenting her in a perverse method similar to the current accusations he faces, according to a federal prosecutor.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Melissa Marangola said in court Friday that Rosica engaged in a "carbon copy" case of harassment in 2009. A former law enforcement official, who was related to that victim, called to alert authorities after news broke Thursday about Rosica's arrest on cyberstalking charges, Marangola said.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Jonathan Feldman decided Friday that Rosica was too dangerous to release before trial. He said the current allegations against Rosica appear strong and represent "something approaching sadistic behavior."
Even Rosica's brother, a Catholic priest, called federal authorities to say Rosica should not be free before his trial, Marangola said Friday.
