And now this to

further complicate matters;
According to News 10, a New York State Assemblyman is seeking to split New York State in three different ways. David DiPietro introduced a bill in Albany to split New York into three different regions. The regions would be a New York region, a Montauk region, and a New Amsterdam region.
The New York region would consist of the Bronx, Kings, New York, Queens, and Richmond counties, according to News 10. The Montauk region would include Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, and Westchester counties. The New Amsterdam region would consist of every county north of Westchester County.

News 10 reports that Assemblyman DiPietro says each region would elect their own governor, legislature, and judicial wing. However, for federal purposes, New York would still remain as one state. According to the full bill listed on the New York State Assembly website, the justification for the bill is because a one size fits all government does not work for New York State because of its diversity and size.

David J. DiPietro is a Republican member of the New York State Assembly representing Assembly District 147, which comprises the southern halves of Erie County, New York and Wyoming County, New York. (Wikipedia).

Again, I dont want to sound conspiratorial, but are we looking at another heretofore unknown chapter in the Republican playbook? That of doing just what Putin has been trying around the world - breaking up nations into smaller units so it is easier to take them over. Consider the hypothetical in America, giving Republicans more judge stacking, etc. We’ve seen it with Catalonia in Spain, and now with Brexit. We’ve heard it in California, and now New York.

Are we beginning to see another phase of Republican dismantling of America? Do they feel they have a better chance of gaining more control if they can break up Democratic areas? Putin has publicly admitted the goal on a world stage. Is this a scaled down version promulgated by Republicans?

Admittedly, I have not researched who is behind this plan in NY., but I’d be willing to bet it’s not Democrats.. If I’m wrong, I will stand corrected. And, is there more to it? Much, much more?
