Jeffrey Epstein Dies By Suicide In Manhattan Jail

NEW YORK, NEW YORK — Jeffrey Epstein, the Manhattan financier awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, committed suicide in his cell at the MCC Manhattan overnight, ABC News and The New York Post is reporting.

News of Epstein's death comes just over two weeks after it was reported that he was found injured in his jail cell in a possible suicide attempt.

Epstein had been denied bail by a federal judge, ensuring that he would stay in jail. His lawyers lawyers requested that the court let the financier stay under supervision in his sprawling Upper East Side mansion, where federal prosecutors allege that he sexually abused several teenage girls.

1. He'd already made one attempt. Why wasn't he on suicide watch? Who made the decision to NOT have him on suicide watch?

2. If not suicide, who got to him, and how was anyone allowed to get near him?
