SCHENECTADY The owner of an iconic Schenectady business is angry after a gubernatorial hopeful swung by to press palms in a visit the proprietor claims was organized under false pretenses.
A staffer at Perrecas Bakery fielded a call on Wednesday morning from someone inquiring about a friend wanting to visit the famed business in the citys Little Italy neighborhood.
But it turned out to be an operative for Andrew Giuliani, who is seeking the Republican nomination for governor in next year's race.
Giuliani, the son of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, showed up later that afternoon with a reporter in tow.
The only reason I found out about it is that the hostess said some kid named Andrew running for governor stopped by and is talking with customers and had the press with him, said co-owner Maria Papa. Obviously this employee didnt know this guy from Adam, and my head proceeded to explode.
