Fatal crashes rise sharply in New York

North country had highest rate

ALBANY, New York (WWNY) - According to a new state report [pdf], the number of people dying in auto crashes in New York skyrocketed from 2019 to 2022.

The report, released Thursday by state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, says the number grew by nearly 26%.

It also says 2022 was the deadliest year in a decade with 1,175 traffic fatalities on New York roads.

Why the rising numbers? The state blames the Covid-19 pandemic and cites research from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Def a ton of brain fogged brains since, I notice it on the roads.
