Healthcare workers protest in Charlotte over Atrium Health's COVID vaccine policy

Hundreds of Charlotte-area healthcare workers and supporters protested Sunday against Atrium Health’s new coronavirus vaccination policy.

The protest from Freedom Park to Atrium Health - Main was organized to stand against the mandated vaccinations issued for Atrium Health employees.

Atrium Health, one of the biggest healthcare systems in Charlotte, recently announced its employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The hospital system said there’s an urgent need for its employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as the new, more potent delta variant continues to spread locally and throughout the state.

“We view it as essential that each of our teammates receive their vaccination to protect themselves, their families and the people in their care,” Atrium Health said in a statement.

Are they just more fluent in medical outcomes that aren't very optimal? Or is this redneck America latency?

Since most are local to their jobs, more or less permanent to the area, I think the latter. I've known a few. Dumb as a suitcase of rocks, but proficient in their skills, thankfully.

My brother is a respiratory therapist and I've read the comments from many of his colleagues on Facebook. Despite the education that these medical professionals have, I've come to the conclusion that they are among the most bigoted people out there--and they get away with it because they are medical professionals.

All docs are vaxxed. It is nurses, radiology techs, unit clerks, etc, that are reluctant. Same folks who complain about us having to pay for health care for the “lazy” indigent and who don’t believe in a social safety net, and who voted for Trump… frustrating environment to work in.

Describes a lot of nursing, accountants, Associates degrees. The local community owns the businesses and teaches the employees they need. These are not artsy, grand panorama of history and cultural thought programs. So you get pretty inflexible, conservative output. Free community college for all may help the right more than the left. On the surface, who knew?

some kind of autoimmune disease that disabled him before he got fired. That was about 15 years ago. He has a DUI and a distribution of oxycodone conviction since then. You guessed it. A devout follower of TFG. Never wore a mask, and won't get vaccinated.

He also has four kids with four different women. Was always behind on child support. Tax problems, bankruptcy, the whole schmear. I'm surprised he wasn't at the Capitol on 1/6.

Going to a healthcare provider who isn't vaxxed is like going to a restaurant where you know that the cook shits in the soup.
