Amber Alert Cancelled and Updated
Winston-Salem police say a missing one-year-old is safe and an Amber Alert canceled.
The alert was issued early Monday morning as police worked to track down the little boy, who they found with his mother in Mooresville, NC.
Investigators say this started Sunday night around 8 p.m. when Kewan Brown was driving with his 20-month old son.
Brown told police another car began chasing after him and someone then fired a gun at Brown, causing him to crash near Pope Road and Ebert Road.
Brown told police a group of men from the car chasing him, then grabbed his son and took off.
During this point in the investigation an Amber Alert was issued and officers learned of an ongoing custody dispute between the parents of the 20-month-old boy.
Police then found the little boy safe and unharmed in Mooresville, NC with his mom, Ayana Dmora Siler Rippy.
Rippy was arrested and charged with Misdemeanor Child Abuse.
Winston-Salem police are still actively investigating this case and working to track down the suspects who chased Brown before taking the little boy.
If you have any information regarding this abduction, call the Winston-Salem Police Department immediately at (336) 773-7700, or call 911.
