North Carolina starts mailing absentee ballots after delay

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — North Carolina absentee ballots began being mailed out on Friday, Sept. 20.

The North Carolina Board of Elections said absentee ballots would be sent to military and overseas citizens by the afternoon.

Other absentee ballots will be sent by Tuesday, Sept. 24 to voters who requested ballots by mail. That includes people who use the visually-impaired portal to request and return their ballots.

North Carolina absentee ballots were originally set to begin distribution on Friday, Sept. 6. This changed, however, after the North Carolina Court of Appeals ordered that Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s name be removed from the ballot.
