First absentee BALLOTS in NC RECEIVED, Board of Elections says
RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) The first North Carolina ballots have been cast in the 2024 election as over one hundred ballots sent to overseas military members have already been returned.
As of [Monday] morning, 102 ballots have been returned from military and overseas voters whose ballots were sent to them on Friday, Karen Brinson Bell, the Executive Director of the State Board of Elections, said.
Those ballots were sent and returned electronically. Still, they were delayed this year after they had to be reprinted following Robert F. Kennedy Jr. removing his name from the presidential race.
There was a decision that we would also destroy those ballots that had already been printed and we would start again, Brinson Bell said. The counties are bearing the cost for new ballots to be printed, and thats going to vary by county in where they were in receiving those ballots in time for the September 6 deadline that we had in place.
