(1,015 posts)I woke up hearing a siren and thought I would check the weather on wral. It looks like it's east of us, supernova, and sp4. I'm not sure about the others. Thank you for asking.
it seems that a tornado may have hit durham this morning but i'm not seeing anything specific so maybe the weatherman is being somewhat sensationalistic.
i'm from CA and i hate earthquakes but this crap is making me nervous! my son's in greenville which seems to be a very active area as well.

(15,684 posts)Ralieh, Apex, Jacksonville. Can you tell me anything more? Where it is now? Where it's heading? Anything, really. If I called any of the them and they were asleep, they would think I had lost my mind.

(29,406 posts)it looks okay from my perspective and i turned it off about 45 minutes ago - keeping the weather channel page refreshed.

it just looks as if today may be the day that NC gets the crap that's been hitting to the west and south this week.

(6,268 posts)The sirens in Chapel Hill plus the cell phone alert get your attention and focus your mind. Storm went just east of CH (and me on its east side), across Durham, and up I-85. Past Butner now. Haven't heard of it touching down, but that can take a little while to report. Hope everyone is safe.
A good wake up call for the Carolina students with exams today.
I live in Chapel Hill..but I'm at the beach in Emerald Isle. Hubby is home, though.
Just sent him an e-mail asking if he was awakened by the sirens.

Clouds are considerably lighter than the past couple of days. No rain. No wind, either.
How is everyone else doing?

(6,268 posts)Until the storms in SC and GA pass offshore and the cold front comes through , I think we we continue to be at risk. Probably until early evening.
I just put the plants out to get some of the brief sun we've just had in the past couple of days. My little potted garden had just been couped up on the sun porch.
