When North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory filed his annual ethics and economic disclosure form in April, he failed to report ownership of at least $10,000 worth of stock in Duke Energy.
McCrory, who worked for Duke for 29 years, finally acknowledged this week that he had sold the stock after the nationwide publicity about the company's coal ash spill in February.
McCrory has filed an updated disclosure form listing the Duke stock. He says his lawyer misread the instructions.
But given the seriousness of the spill - 39,000 tons of coal ash, a toxic sludge and 27,000 gallons of contaminated water went into the Dan River after a drainage pipe collapsed - the omission is unfortunate at best.

Somehow he wasn't allowed to be this unethical during his time as mayor, or at least it was a well hidden secret. For some of the actions performed as governor makes me wonder if he did a Cannon, but got away with it due to color? I don't really know, I am not intuned to the "real" politic of the "uptown" banker crowd that ran this city while Pat was mayor. Since the old bankers have moved on, their influence is less, but still around.
