RICHLANDS, N.C. (WNCT) A Richlands man police said committed a hate crime in Key West last week was arrested in Onslow County on Thursday.
Brandon Ray Davis, 30, was taken into custody Thursday morning by the Onslow County Sheriffs Office on an extraditable warrant for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon with evidence of prejudice.
Key West police said Kevin Seymour and Kevin Price were riding their bicycles in Key West when they saw Davis swerving on a rented motor scooter.
Seymour told police he shouted to warn Price he almost hit a car.
The Miami Herald reports the man then yelled anti-gay remarks and said he bet the two men voted for Hillary Clinton. Then he yelled, You live in Trump country now.

(2,000 posts)Originally from the northeast, I've lived in NC for 12 years. It's the south, I don't love it here, but there are many good people, here and everywhere. They marched on Raleigh NC last month in record numbers, and voted out a horrid governor in favor of a democrat.. I think the margin was about 5000 votes. So we are trying to turn the tide. It's an uphill battle, and some of the deplorables are fighting back.
I wonder, where do they get those really giant banners they fly from humvees and large trucks? I had a young man ask if my.store sold them, since we sell American and military flags and stickers. I was shocked, and looked at him with confusion, and said no, we have American flags.

Why live here? I love my home-state. Sure there are some narrow-minded folks who roam around NC in a Jesse Helms fog. But for the most part the North Carolinians I come across are reasonable minded individuals.
Roy Cooper ended up winning the election over McCrory by 10,000 votes-- I was proud my vote actually made a difference in the governor/attorney general's races. Gerrymandered districts have destroyed NC politics-- These districts were drawn out by rural lawmakers like Phil Berger and Tim Moore. Democrats can beat these weasels if they run well respected individuals to run against those backwoods' swine. Let's not forget the Art Pope money that has bought these seats- You can also throw the Koch brother's into that NCGOP cesspool. You're right about this being an 'uphill battle'. NC Dems need to start using the same tactics Dallas Woodhouse and the other NCGOP demons use during elections.

(2,000 posts)Since you asked, I moved to NC due to family responsibilities, which ended last May when my mother passed away. I was contemplating my options, my future, traveling to find a place I might choose, rather than one I ended up in.
Then the election happened , and I was devastated and disrupted, like many Americans . As a Jew, my fight or flight reaction said flight...run far and fast. But where to go? Back to the (blue) northeast, or out West? My Jewish blood screams at me to leave the country, so maybe Mexico, which is warm and has a large Jewish community, or Canada, where I have some family. So for now, until I decide where I'll go, I'm living and doing battle in NC. Glad my vote also helped to elect Cooper .
I saw the gerrymandering done and the results. I AM hopeful we can un-fix what they fixed, and i know it will take work, which is why I'm sticking around for now.
Didn't mean to insult your home state, which is my state too, for now.
