NC craft brewers could produce more beer under a bill sponsored by Forsyth legislator

North Carolina’s craft beer brewers could produce more than four times as much beer if a bill introduced this week in the state Senate becomes law.

The bill, filed Thursday, would raise the production cap for small breweries from 25,000 barrels to a limit of 103,091 barrels per year.

“To me, it’s like having a pizza restaurant that can only sell so many pizzas,” said Sen. Joyce Krawiec, a Forsyth County Republican and one of the primary sponsors for the bill.

“If we believe in free markets, then breweries should be able to distribute their products.”
