Salem College eliminates director of diversity and inclusiveness position

Salem College has eliminated the position for the director of diversity and inclusiveness.

The move comes in the aftermath of protests by some students who complained that the college fostered a culture of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and elitism.

Krishauna Hines-Gaither, who is also an assistant professor of Spanish at the college, confirmed Friday that she was removed from her role as the director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusiveness.

“My position of director has been terminated as of June 1,” Hines-Gaither said. “I have been dismissed from this position.”
