the outlook for the Triangle; opportunity to help

looks better this morning. I'm still afraid of flooding and the huge pine that overlooks my townhome coming down and slicing my house in half, but less so.
I don't remember any of the really bad storms from the past, because I was in CA dealing with the occasional earthquake (now many of my loved ones are surrounded by catastrophic fires and enduring an almost endless drought). I have been really scared these last few days. Even now I suspect that Florence will be the worst storm I have been through in all of my 63 years.

Y'all stay safe!!

GOTV workers from the coast need places to stay:

I'm in Hillsborough. I've been through Fran and Floyd here, both very destructive. Thanks for posting about the workers
needing lodging.

i had to rule it out because my kitchen has collected water during some other strong storms and I am afraid it will be much worse with Florence. Plus the tree: we're riding it out downstairs.

Hillsborough did okay, lost power but that was because a huge ancient oak tree decided to fall down and knocked out some power lines, but it happened prior to the storm getting there, so does not appear to be related.
