The Most Beautifully Designed Theater in Each State

The Most Beautifully Designed Theater in Each State

From the east coast to the west—crossing over mountains, lakes and metropolises—most every community boasts a theater for performing arts. Some are ultra-modern—like Frank Gehry’s soaring sheets of metal at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles—while others are remnants of the Roaring ‘20s when going to the movies was an event that everyone in the family kept on their calendar. Over the years, America has erected some of the most beautiful theaters in the world. From opera houses to vintage theaters and glossy, new performing-arts centers—plus dreamy open-air amphitheaters—AD has surveyed those that became landmarks in whatever town or city they were built. What's more, we broke it down to show the most beautifully designed theaters in every state.

The acoustics in Elliot Hall of Music are incredible. Dan Fogelberg used to choose to play it, despite being on a college campus, because the venue was so good. I've been there, I've been on the stage, I've been in the balcony. The acoustics are incredible.
