16 weeks paid leave coming for new moms and dads who work at Reynolds

Reynolds American Inc. said Monday it will offer a new 16-week paid parental leave program for its full-time employees, starting Jan. 1.

The program, which is being rolled out among all British American Tobacco Plc subsidiaries, allows female and male employees to take up to 16 weeks of leave following the birth, adoption or permanent placement of a child in their household.

If the employee needs additional time, the program allows for up to 64 days of flexible work arrangements over the ensuing eight months.

For couples who both work for a Reynolds company, each person can take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave, which can run concurrently or consecutively, or one parent can take the entire 16 weeks.
