North Dakota father disowns son who participated in Charlottesville white nationalist rally

A North Dakota father is denouncing his son and slamming his "vile, hateful and racist" actions after he traveled to Charlottesville to attend a "Unite the Right" rally over the weekend.

Pearce Tefft, of Fargo, penned an open letter to Pete Tefft, who calls himself a "pro-white activist" on Twitter, begging him to renounce his stance.

"I, along with all of his siblings and his entire family, wish to loudly repudiate my son's vile, hateful and racist rhetoric and actions," Pearce wrote in a letter posted on Inforum. "We do not know specifically where he learned these beliefs. He did not learn them at home."

Pearce said it was causing his family "heartbreak and distress" that Pete had decided to unlearn what he’s been taught and spew hate.
