Is anyone here from the Cincinnati area?

I just had my first business trip there. It was a bit more interesting then I thought it would be. A lot of interesting architecture, very cozy downtown, not quite as white-bread as I expected. However, I did not expect the huge homeless problem they have there. Does anyone know if they are trying to help these people? A lot of them were very aggressive. I gave quite a bit of money away, but I have lived in NYC, Boston and SF and have never quite seen such a visible homeless problem as I did in Cinci. Does anyone have any insight to this problem?

Hard for me to say what's going on re homeless persons.

There are shelters, but I understand that many homeless prefer to stay away from them - noise, rules, etc.
It may be that you encountered them due to good weather, good downtown crowds, etc.

I live in the city but in a residential area and seldom see homeless.
A few years ago we saw more in the neighborhood commercial area - mostly young, clean people, who were regulars. - It seemed like a business, pairs working together. Some on opposite street corners, etc.
