Feds say Findlay Market vendor bilked the government out of $3.45 million

Findlay Market is known for being a foodie's paradise - with premium meats, produce straight from the farm, exotic spices and fresh-baked bread all on sale almost daily.

But the iconic Cincinnati landmark is now possibly something else - the site of one of the largest food stamp fraud operations in Ohio's recent history.

Federal law enforcement officials suspect that the family that runs a Findlay mainstay in Over-the-Rhine also bilked the government out of more than $3.45 million in fake food stamp transactions just since 2010.

That's according to a search warrant and seizure warrants issued last week by the U.S. Secret Service, which investigates such fraud and currency counterfeiting along with protecting high-ranking federal officials such as the president.

Which is really only meant to work to bring profits to big AG, that's the ONLY reason it's not also eliminated.

When Big AG isn't getting their expected profits because recipients actually really need other things like gas & a vehicle to go to work, heating oil, health insurance for their families, etc, etc ... they unleash the Secret Service upon recipients and the small business owners who aren't properly doing their part to line their pockets.

The right-wingers will blame 'big government' and 'snap', and declare we need to give more power to the 'private sector' ... nevermind that it's 'the private sector' who was engaged in an equal part of the fraud here.

Raising the damn minimum wage to something livable and providing universal health care would massively eliminate both the need for SNAP in general and impetus for people to engage in fraud surrounding it, but ... Dog Forbid ... 'wealth redistribution' ...

As an aside, if you have $1000 in food stamps to throw around, you either saved it up for a LONG TIME, or you have like 14 kids ... ya know, like an Amish family might.
