A Hamilton County judge on Thursday banned homeless camps in all of Hamilton County and told police they should arrest anyone who defies his order.
The ruling from Common Pleas Judge Robert Ruehlman follows days of fighting in court over homeless camps that first appeared on Third Street Downtown and later moved to other locations.
Ruehlman has set increasingly restrictive boundaries for the homeless camps throughout the week, but the people from those camps have continued to set up new camps just beyond the judge's boundaries.
By Thursday afternoon, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said he'd had enough and would ask Ruehlman to ban homeless camps across the county.

(5,196 posts)As of Friday, a group of homeless had been given permission to camp in a private park owned by advocates for public housing.
The Cincinnati police will take no further action unless a health problem or criminal activity arises.
A number of local groups are providing food for the new residents.
