I can understand a century old home might need a few repairs, but one million dollars to do some work now, and one million dollars put in the bank for later?

(951 posts)given the size of the house and the scale of the work. Being on the National Register of Historic Places doesn't help - the roof is slate and copper and can't be altered.

(116,768 posts)1) Upgrading for technological improvements. I suspect that money will need to spent for wiring high-speed Internet and related office equipment. It could also involve adding a secure conference room.
2) Upgrading for security. This could involve adding security cameras and partitioning rooms for security personnel.
