This is an 'eye to the sky' day, in the Mitten. It's cloudy, heading into the mid-90's with a good chance of strong thunderstorms (again), maybe some hail tossed in, for good measure.

Then, starting tomorrow, things cool down by a good 15+ degrees.

It has, most definitely, been a roller coaster Spring and Summer.

We got quite a drenching, yesterday afternoon, and it looks like the same sort of storms heading our way, today. Then, more rain tomorrow.

to July.

Also, here are tips for visiting several other central and southern cities of Ohio during fall and winter seasons. Want to blend in with the locals?

Ditch the polar parkas and snow boots in Dayton; hot-blooded Daytonians don't EVER wear them! or need to. Wearing these items are considered excessive. Wind breakers with T-shirts and Bermudas and sandals are sufficient to quickly visit WallyWorld or convenience stores.

During fall seasons especially, don't ever wear Blue and Gold anything in Columbus, OH. You may be subject to jeers and worse should your wardrobe attract attention from sports bars patrons and all others on the streets - If you want to express all manner of excess energies, visitors will enjoy tailgating in whatever weather in any apparel that is Gray and Scarlet.

We have our share of those hardy souls in NE Ohio as well .... Bermuda shorts worn all year long to run into Wallyworld. Usually accompanied by a Browns or Ohio State jersey and cap on Sunday mornings in the grocery store, even when the snow is swirling.

seasons. Heat index 104 yesterday. But I am a little confused, or perhaps the heat fried my brain? But I only count 11 seasons? I wonder at my sanity as many times in the day as you have seasons in ohio. Please help!

I wish you all the best in your new life in Costa Rica. Impressed and admire you two for making the big leap. I’m jealous you’ll be living in a country without the Asshole. And so humbled you include me in your DU circle.

You’re going to continue posting on DU, aren’t you? Would love to hear about your move and new life and perhaps some photos of this lovely place.

Take care and good luck!!

We’ve been living in the same house for over 30 years and have accumulated the accompanying amount of junk that happens with that and having raised 3 sons. I would love to downsize, but my husband isn’t ready yet. He still likes his yard, his garden, his boat, etc. etc. Ideally, I’d want to stay close to my kids who all still live in Ohio but have a getaway place for the winter months.

Your experience must be so exciting .... I Googled Lake Arenal and it looks like a paradise. Are there many American retirees down there?
