DeWine's comments were in response to an anti-Semitic sign at Ohios Statehouse during a recent protest rally.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WDTN) Governor Mike DeWine took to Facebook Wednesday night to voice his concern over some of the comments made against Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton.
The comment was posted on the governors Facebook page around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
DeWine said in the post:
I am deeply concerned by the anti-Semitic sign at Ohios Statehouse during a recent protest rally. The sign was vile and disgusting. While even disgusting speech is constitutionally protected, it still demands condemnation. The recent Internet post by Ohio State Senator Andrew Brenner, likening Ohios Department of Health Directors actions to fight the corona virus to those taken by the Nazis in Germany during World War II, must also be condemned. The comments showed a complete lack of understanding of the Holocaust made even more offensive by posting on Holocaust Memorial Day and was a slur on a good, compassionate, and honorable person who has worked non-stop to save lives and protect her fellow citizens. Any complaints about the policy of this administration need to be directed at me. I am the office holder, and I appointed the Director. Ultimately, I am responsible for the decisions in regard to the corona virus. The buck stops with me.
****** Anti-Semitic signs at the stay-at-home protest ... so are these idiots really protesting the stay-at home orders or are they getting instructions from somewhere else ... and coming from a state senator no less ... they are vile cretins .... Good for our Governor denouncing it ... He and Dr. Acton have been working hard and making tough decisions to keep us safe, whether these idiots realize it or not.

Catholic with 8 children ,one deceased. I may not agree with his political beliefs but he is doing a great job for my state. I am grateful. We have had 8 deaths in Montgomery County. 4 of them transfers from a Nursing home in another county.
Ignorant protesters can stay away from here.

The former Ohio governor, Kasich, struck me as the most reasonable candidate in the 2016 GOP primaries too. No wonder he never got much traction!
Dont give up on Ohio in 2020. I wouldnt be surprised if Biden wins here.

(18,161 posts)Was not always that sweet, lovable guy you hear. His first decision cost Ohio high speed rail. Then he tried to kill public Unions. Voters slapped him down good on that with a 1.3 million petition delivered to the State House, put on the ballot where it was overwhelmingly defeated.
He became more moderate but still starved public education to feed his friends crooked SCharter Schools. So much so the Republican Legislature replaced his last $2 million dollar cut.
He did approve MEDICAID. DeWine is against it but so far he has not touched it.

(34,631 posts)First thing he tried was that bill to end public employee union bargaining. Mr. O is a retired public school teacher.... we signed the petition going around and got all our friends to sign it, too.
At least he accepted that the people had spoken and didn't try to jam it through after that.
But he didn't leave the greatest legacy here, either. Probably the only thing he did for Ohio that was any good was he expanded Medicaid. I was worried when DeWine got into office that he'd end that, but like you said, so far he hasn't touched it.

(18,161 posts)I Have never seen so many angry Firemen. My whole family was involved in the Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Paramedic, ran the ambulance every day on top of his regular work. They did not make anything but it was neighborhood price. First Responders and Teachers are the life blood of this Country and future!
That is how we became involved in local and County politics.
